    Teruo Nakamura

     

     

     

     

    Teruo Nakamura (b. March 3, 1942, Tokyo) is a Japanese jazz bassist.

    Nakamura played in New York City from 1964, and in 1969 joined Roy Haynes's ensemble; that same year he also worked in a trio with Steve Grossman and Lenny White, who would both go on to play on his debut as a leader, 1973's Unicorn. He also worked with Hubert Eaves, Charles Sullivan, George Cables, and Onaje Allan Gumbs. His 1977 release Manhattan Special reached #19 on the U.S. Billboard jazz charts.

    Sharon Silverstein

    Sharon Silverstein moves people to greater self-awareness, unity and world peace by combining sacred Mantras, powerful lyrics and motivational rhythms.

    Singer/songwriter Sharon Silverstein has been bringing her transformational music to Delaware Valley audiences for the past 26 years. She has been a Yogini for the past 8 years and studying sound yoga for the past 2 years and more recently a student of Nada Yoga with Acharya Girish Jha from India. Her music moves people to greater self-awareness, unity, and peace through mantras, her inspirational lyrics and rhythms and her message of love and light. Sharon is also the founder and president of Living At Peace, LLC a company that works to provide people with greater self-awareness. She has a Bachelor Music degree from Rutgers University, is also a certified music teacher and taught in the NJ public school for 14 years.

    Aurelio Martinez

    Acclaimed for both his preservation and modernization of the Paranda musical tradition, Aurelio's virtuosity is found in his distinctive, penetrating vocals and his talent as a composer. Aurelio was born into a family possessing a long and distinguished musical tradition in the small Garifuna community of Plaplaya in Honduras. Aurelio began playing guitar as soon as he was old enough to hold the instrument. By the age of six he was regularly playing drums at social gatherings. Inspired by his grandmother and his father, Aurelio gathered a vast repertoire, which later enabled him to develop his own style.

    Kim Garey

    Drummer Kim Garey has been has been studying, teaching, and performing on the instrument since age 10. She began to study music privately, then in her middle school and high school band and jazz band program, and then went on to study percussion and composition at Wichita State University. Kim graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double Bachelor's in Percussion Performance and Music Composition, and her Master's in Music Composition. She has studied with such drum greats as John Riley, Joe Morello, Michael Spiro, Matt Wilson, Steve Houghton, and Allison Miller. A native of Kansas, she moved to the New York City Metro Area in March of 2006 and has been busy performing since she arrived. Since moving to NYC, she has performed with legendary jazz masters such as Don Braden, Junior Mance, and Tim Price. She is performing regularly with the Tim Price/Ryan Anselmi Tenor Maddness Ensemble, the Gina Fox Band, Paprika, and the Ryan Anselmi Quartet. As well as performing, Kim has been teaching professionally for the past 10 years. She has taught private piano and drum lessons as well as group study. Her students have ranged from beginning to advanced with a large age range of 5-70 years! Kim is passionate about spreading music education and awareness and enjoys watching students' music appreciation and understanding grow through her lessons.     Lucy Blanco

    Vocalist Lucy Blanco’s family roots began in a small fisherman’s village in Santa Rosa de Aguan, Honduras Central America. Her parents migrated to the Bronx, New York in 1964 where she was born. She is a proud descendant of the Garifuna people who settled in Central America from the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent. She has relocated back to her hometown of New York City from Los Angeles where she had been living for the last 20 years.

    Her musical influences are varied and include Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Hector Lavoe, Gloria Estefan and Celia Cruz Her life was forever changed when she got a chance to attend an Artist in Residence program @ The Conservatory of Music in Den Hague with Dr. Barry Harris as a member of The Radiant Voices. She credits The World Stage, The late Billy Higgins, and the late Dahl Scott, pianist/composer/arranger the late Michael Andrews and many other artists and friends who graciously opened the door and provided wonderful opportunities to learn about the art of jazz.

    Since relocating to New York City in August’09, she has worked with some of the best musicians the East Coast has to offer such as Benito Gonzalez, Mala Waldron, Mimi Jones and Danny Mixon. She recently performed at The 8th Annual Lady Got Chops Jazz Festival founded by Kim Clarke. Ms. Blanco is currently producing her debut album with International Pianist Warren Byrd. “My goal is to make music that speaks to the love I have for Jazz and Latin music and reflects the Garifuna/Afro/Latina heritage I am proud to have.”
